"It's my birthday, and I'll art if I want to!"

Well, I've put on another year. Where has it gone?!
Isn't it funny how the older you get, the birthday's don't feel any different than any other day? What happened to the excitement of having our very own special day?!
Truth be told, if I had my choice of what I wanted to do today, it would be "Create Art!"...but I guess I will have to BE the birthday girl and let others celebrate my birthday with me. That sounds terribly selfish of me doesn't it?! I guess that is a sign of growing older!!

Anyway, I thought I would post this picture of my grandmother and my great-aunt whooping it up in their funny costumes. It looks like they are celebrating for sure. This might be the perfect picture to create an art piece for me for my birthday!

Yay!....I'm back in the land of the warm people!!!

Aren't these pictures cool?! Of course it was so much more impressive in person. We had at least a half inch of ice covering everything, then when the sun came out 2 days later it was like a beautiful fairy iceland. The really bad thing was that so many trees were damaged by the weight of all the ice. We still have to get someone to come and cut part of our tree that fell on our house. The electric finally came back on Saturday morning, so then my parents came to stay with us until their electric came back on yesterday. 5 adults, 3 cats, and a dog in a tiny house could have been very trying, but we coped very well. It is amazing how many things we take for granted!

Now that I finally got my electric and phone line back, I wanted to upload some pictures of the art demo that I did at Red Lead Paperworks store in St. Louis. The store asked me to demo some altered cd tins with a Christmas theme. These were alot of fun to make and it was so cool to have so many people want to try their hand at altering some tins of their own. Inside I made a booklet in the shape of the tin. I really need to start cracking here if I want to get my Christmas gifts finished in time, but then I do seem to work better under pressure. Sound familiar?

Ice Storm St. Louis '06...

Yes...we did get hit with the big ice and snow storm that went through the midwest! Wow, it was worse than I expected. I finally made it into work which was probably good since there is still heat in my office, but I think it will be a long cold weekend at home.

A very large tree behind our house actually split from the weight of the ice, and it landed on the corner of our house at 3 o'clock in the morning. No damage to the house, fortunately, but our phone line snapped and we are completely without power. That means I may not be able to post again for a few days since I currently have no internet connection.

Gee, I wonder if I can do some artwork by candlelight??? May have to try that and find out.

Even though I have been coming home exhausted each night from work, I have been trying to force myself to sit down for a short period of time to work on getting my Christmas cards done. These are the four designs I have been working on for this year. I hope to get enough done to send out to my husband's and my family. It amazes me that some of my artsy friends who make their own Christmas cards can turn out about a hundred or so cards each year. Wow! I'm lucky to get 30! Anyway, I love the images on the 2 cards on the right. I found those rubber stamps at a rubber stamp convention that I went to last summer, and I couldn't wait to use them. My husband loves snow and snowmen, so I try to incorporate it into my Christmas cards for him.
Speaking of which...we are supposed to get a snow storm by morning. Yuk! I think I could do without the snow, thank you very much! Well, at least I will get a chance to see how my new car drives in snow. Well, I have at least 20 more cards to get done, so I better get started.

Happy Turkey Day!

Hello! I am so happy that you stopped in to take a peek at my new blog. I am making an early News Years resolution to keep up with the posting on this new blog so please check back in with me often.

I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year. I am thankful for soooo many things, but at the top of the list is my wonderful art friends...old and new!

I guess I lucked out this year by going to 2 different family dinners for Thanksgiving and not having to do the whole cooking thing at home myself. Since I have only been married going on 2 years, I have not had to do the Thanksgiving shuffle much in the past.

Anyway, I hope to post lots of art and talk of art and life in many future posts! Thanks for joining me, friend!

hugs,
Chris
